Dr. Susan Karam attended medical school at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She then completed her residency in internal medicine at UAB in Birmingham, AL and her fellowship in endocrinology at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL. She then returned home to Louisiana to join the endocrine department at Ochsner Medical Center. Dr. Karam is board certified in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism and internal medicine. Dr. Karam has an interest in the management of diabetes. She oversees an insulin pump clinic which provides dedicated care to our patients using insulin pumps. She also serves as the chair of the glycemic management committee which works to improve care for hospitalized patients with diabetes and hyperglycemia at Ochsner Medical Center and across the system.
