Overview

  • Dr. Braxton was born and raised in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. He graduated from Broad Run High School in Ashburn, Virginia then attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where he majored in biology. After college he attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. Upon graduating from medical school, Dr. Braxton moved to the New Orleans area and completed the combined Internal Medicine/ Physical Medicine residency program. He is board-certified in both areas. In 1998 Dr. Braxton began practice in internal medicine and roughly a year later also became the medical director of the inpatient rehabilitation unit at what was then Northshore Regional Medical Center in Slidell. He held that position for about five years while continuing to practice both clinic and hospital-based internal medicine. After hurricane Katrina Dr. Braxton resigned from the director's position to focus on primary care. In 2008, he shifted his focus again to practice spine medicine in association with, what was then, the NORTH institute in Lacombe. During that time he also took on the role of medical director of the cardiac rehabilitation unit at Louisiana Heart Hospital. Dr. Braxton is committed to the highest-quality patient care and a friendly, efficient office experience. As a member of the SMH/Ochsner Back and Spine team, he hopes to use that commitment and years of experience to provide the most comprehensive treatment of spine disorders on the Northshore.
