Dr. Douglas Lurie is board certified in orthopedic surgery with subspecialty certification in sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and experience in adult reconstruction, sports medicine, and fracture care. He graduated with honors from the University of South Alabama School of Medicine and completed his residency and internship with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans where he was chief resident.
Dr. Lurie performs total knee, total hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as numerous arthroscopic surgeries of the knee and shoulder. He utilizes the Anterior Approach for total hip replacements. He has special interests in sports injuries of the active adult and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Prior to relocating to New Orleans in 2010, Dr. Lurie was in private practice 2007 - 2010 in Fairhope, Alabama.
